William Wegman: Vogue

American artist and photographer William Wegman is perhaps most well known for his subtly satirical work with his dogs, a collaboration which began in Los Angeles in the 70s with his Weimaraner Man Ray. Wegman studied painting at the Massachusetts College of Art and the University of Illinois Champagne/Urbana and has continued to paint throughout his career. Wegman was one of the first artists to work with video as an art form, exhibiting his trademark deadpan humor in video works since the 70s. Retrospectives of Wegman's work have ut Europe and travelled to museums throughohe US including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and the Pompidou Museum in Paris. This "Vogue" series highlights a new body of work, featuring Wegman's famous Weimaraner dogs in high fashion clothes, created for a 2017 spread in Vogue Magazine. His still evident even when working with dogs other than his own familiar subjects.
